Sex!

Now that we've got your attention, Painted Lips and Lolly Licks: The Sexy Film Festival returns to the Mayfair Feb 12, and we want to show your movie!

Any film that explores themes of sex, romance or the erotic is eligible, provided it's:

  • 10 minutes or shorter;
  • and submitted by Feb 5.

Entries will be judged by adult film star (and friend of the Mayfair) Sasha Grey!

Director Lee Demarbre and stars David Hess and Sasha Grey head to Montreal for Smash Cut World Premiere

The Zed Filmworks production of Smash Cut is having it's world premiere at the 2009 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal this Saturday (July 18th) at midnight. "Since original Harry Knuckles film premiered at Fantasia eleven years ago, Fantasia has always felt like home ... I am thrilled to have the world premiere there .. it seems perfect," says director Lee Gordon Demarbre. Demarbre continues,"best of all - most of the cast and crew is attending the screening to honor the amazing Herschell Gordon Lewis for all his inspiration." Vampiro Wins Award!

Vampiro: Angel, Devil, Hero, the first feature length documentary from Odessa Filmworks has won the award for Best Editing at the Monterrey International FIlm Festival in Monterrey, Mexico. The award was given to co-editors Casey Tourangeau an Lee Demarbre, with Tourangeau on hand in Monterrey to accept the award on his and Demarbre's behalf. Vampiro: Angel, Devil, Hero World Premiere

The first feature length documentary from Odessa Filmworks will Premiere at the 2008 Monterrey Film Festival in Monterrey, Mexico on August 16th, 2008. The documentary that follows the career of famed Mexican Wrestler Ian Hodgkinson, aka Vampiro, was shot over the course of two years in Italy, Ireland, Germany, the UK, Canada, the United States and Mexico. "It's exciting to premiere this film in Mexico," explains director Lee Demarbre. Monterrey, Mexico is the city where Vampiro's legend was born, "it's like going home" explains the director. Smash Cut Wrapped, Cut and Getting Noticed

The fifth feature length film from Odessa Filmworks entitled Smash Cut wrapped production in the first week of June. The film stars David Hess (Last House on the Left, Hitch-Hike), Sasha Grey (2007 Penthouse Pet of the Month, 2008 Female Performer of the Year), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, The Devil's Rejects), Ray Sager (The Wizard of Gore, The Gore Gore Girls) and Herschell Gordon Lewis (Blood Feast, 2000 Maniacs). Director Lee Demarbre recently finished the first assembly edit of the film and is very excited to start showing it around for feedback. Meanwhile the film was featured on Entertainment Tonight recently; check it out.

Extras wanted for the 5th Feature Film from Odessa Filmworks

We're looking for extras to be in Smash Cut, the fifth feature film from Odessa Filmworks. On Tuesday, May 20th we need to fill the Mayfair theatre for the climactic scene of the film. It is a very exciting and action-packed scene! So come out and be in the movie Smash Cut.

Stars in attendance include David Hess (star of Last House on the Left, Swamp Thing, House at the Edge of the Park and Hitch-Hike) and Sasha Grey (2007 Penthouse Pet of The Month and 2008 AVN and XRCO "Female Performer of the Year").

The Dead Sleep Easy — Hollywood Premiere!

The Dead Sleep Easy will have it's Hollywood premiere at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre Thursday, March 27th and Friday, March 28th. The cinema is located on the corner of Hollywood and Vine. "It's a thrill to screen in the City of Angels," says The Dead Sleep Easy director Lee Demarbre. The Dead Sleep EasyThe Dead Sleep Easy will have its Toronto premiere at the Royal Cinema (608 College St.) on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 9:15pm and Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 9:15pm.

There will be a double bill on Friday with Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter playing at 11:30pm. The Dead Sleep Easy Ottawa Premiere!

The Dead Sleep EasyThe Dead Sleep Easy is the 3rd feature film release from Odessa Filmworks, and will have its Ottawa premiere at the Bytowne Cinema starting Friday, February 22nd until Monday, February 25th.

The Dead Sleep Easy re-teams Demarbre with writer Ian Driscoll and actor Phil Caracas, but also features some big-name international talent, most notably Martin Kove (star of The Karate Kid films and Rambo). The cast also includes British celebrity gangster Dave Courtney (reputed former right hand to The Krays), Mexican rock superstar Alex Lora, Latina singing sensation Ana Sidel and rising Canadian star Talia Russo (Shoot 'Em Up, 16 Blocks, Mean Girls).

The Dead Sleep Easy gets a Release Trailer and Poster

TDSE Poster The Dead Sleep Easy marks the fourth feature film produced at Odessa Filmworks, but it is in fact the third feature film to be completed (the documentary about Mexican Wrestling superstar Vampiro entitled Angel, Devil, Hero is still in post-production). Odessa Filmworks is proud to reveal the release poster for The Dead Sleep Easy which you can see here, and the release trailer which you can view here (Quicktime format, 67 MB).

The Dead Sleep Easy will be released early in the new year.
